Door Locks
Sliding door locks tend to be more insecure than other types of door locks. This is because the doors can be lifted from their tracks. This means that there has to something that prevents the door from being lifted in such a manner. Patio door locks and pin locks are good examples of such a security measure. Another important thing is that if the sliding doors are made from glass then make sure it is reinforced glass, otherwise burglars might break it instead of bothering with the door locks. Laminated glass is the best material if you must have glass sliding doors. This type of glass is nearly impossible to break. If you are using glass doors then make sure the door locks or alarm system is clearly visible. This tends to deter burglars.
It most often happens that the most secure features often cause the greatest inconvenience. For some reason technology has not yet reached the point where convenience and security go hand in hand. The closest you can come to this ideal is to use keyless door locks.
Electronic keyless door locks are a good choice nowadays as they permit adding different codes for different people so that every one has a unique access to the door instead of a single universal code that might be misused if it got out.
